Volendam
Volendam is a historical fishing village situated about 45 minutes from Amsterdam.This village offers visitors a unique experience of a Dutch village life. Legend has it that the real beauty of Dutch women can be found in Volendam!Here one can wander in the main streets passing through scores of little shops, taste the traditional Herring and even try one of the traditional village costumes. This is the place to view the Dyke and appreciate the ingenuity of Dutch water management.
Zaanse Schans
Zaanse Schans is also known as the ‘Wind Mill’ village.This village is more like an open air museum which offers visitors an insight in to various occupations of the Old Dutch.
- First you will see the famous Delft Blue Pottery works where pottery is still made traditional way. The techniques used are the same as 400 years ago.
- Next you will see the Cheese farm where you can taste the famous GOUDA cheese. you can buy from a large selection of fine home made cheese.
- Your next stop is at a working windmill where you are invited to see the mill from the inside.
- Finally, you will see a live demonstration of how wooden shoes are made and even try a pair for free.
